This week has been an incredibly sporty one, with a huge majority of children throughout the school participating in enriched sporting events.
KS1 Athletics
On Wednesday, Barn Owl Class attended an athletic event at Forest Hall School. The children told me that they took part in lots of activities (throwing, jumping, racing, catching and obstacles), which were all lots of fun, but very tiring, as they had to work really hard.
KS2 Archery Finals
Also taking place on Wednesday, following success from a previous archery completion, two teams from Eagle Owl Class went to the Uttlesford Archery Finals at RA Butler Primary School.
The children performed exceptionally well and one team are now through to the next round which takes place later in the term.
Netball Tournament
The netball team participated in the Stansted Family High 5 Netball tournament on Thursday morning at Forest Hall School. The team had the opportunity to
play 5 matches with two halves. Each match was 12 minutes long, with matches being played back to back. Whilst they didn’t win, they can be very proud of their performance and for our Year 6 children, this was their last Netball event playing for Manuden.
‘Chance to Shine’ Cricket
‘Chance to Shine’ is a national charity that aims to give all children the opportunity to play, learn and develop through cricket. The organisation works with the 39 County Cricket Boards across England and Wales to send specialist coaches into schools, once a week for six weeks, to support cricket coaching. As well as the physical benefits of
regular activity, they believe that cricket teaches children important life skills that will help children beyond the playground.

Last football game of the season

Our Boys Football team played the last match of the season last night at Birchanger.
After going 2-0 down, Manuden managed to bring the game back to 2-2 with some great football playing out from the back. The end result was a 5-2 loss after a very close second half. Our team played extremely well and this was reflected in the positive comments from the other school about the way Manuden played. Well done to everyone who played this season and represented the school.

Football St Mary’s V Manuden

The Boys Football team played at St Mary’s Stansted last night.
It was a tough game against a very strong opposition but the team showed great team spirit to keep going and encouraged each other throughout the game.
There were some individual highlights including a crazy nutmeg, some great tackles and some fantastic saves.
The final score was 6-0 to St Mary’s
Well done to all our Boys for their effort and enthusiasm!

Week 4th March- Football and Netball

It’s been another busy week for sport at Manuden.
On Tuesday, our Netball team hosted a match against Henham. Despite being a player down, our team played really well and it was a very close game, with much of the play in our third.
The final score was 4-2 to Henham.
Huge thanks to Mrs Tait for standing in as ‘netball coach’ for the match.
On Thursday, our Boys Football team hosted a match against Rickling.
The team played really well in the first half taking a 1-0 lead.
The players were putting passes together really well as a team and showing some great individual skills.
Their confidence dropped when Rickling scored two goals from just before half time
There were some really positive passes and great team goals scored throughout.
Well done to Manuden for their effort!
The final score was 5-1 to Rickling.

A weeks round up….

Despite being a short week back after half term, it’s been a busy one for sport.
On Tuesday, our Netball team played away at St Mary’s Stansted. It was a very evenly matched game and both teams were neck and neck until the last quarter.
The final score was 6-3 to St Mary’s.
Player of the Match: Amber
On Thursday morning, we took a team of Year 3/4 children to Howe Green for the Stansted Tag Rugby Tournament and played against seven other schools from the Stansted family.
Everyone had great fun and came back exhausted.

Our successful first Archery competition

On Thursday, our Year 6’s took part in an Archery Competition at Henham and played against Birchanger.
Our 3 teams did incredibly well and every child returned with at least one medal!
Over 30 teams from 8 schools took part throughout the day and the overall results were as follows:

They had great fun and managed to come fourth overall.
They returned to school at lunchtime very happy and very muddy!
